KAILUA-KONA — KTA Super Stores became the first grocery chain in the state to earn Blue Zone Project approval at all of its Big Island locations.

A celebration of the designation was held Friday at the Kailua-Kona and Keauhou stores.

The Blue Zone Project is a community led well-being improvement initiative designed to make healthy choices easier through permanent changes to a area’s environment, policy and social networks.
